Filming

On Sunday the 21st of November wefilmed our film opening, we used my grandads house as the location to use because they have large rooms and alot of files and office paperwork around. Their large bathroom is the key in our production because this is where the main actress of the film in first seen. Our filming went quite well and we done it all in a few hours and we got all the shots that we needed, the weather was also good for the shots we needed outside.
The main actress of the film is Millie Temple, i used her because i knew that she is a good actress and also serious for the character she is playing, in our film opening we had her getting ready togoout on a date or something by doing her hair,make-up etc.

Summary of film idea

Team members- Me and Mary
Main actress- Millie Temple?
Working Title-Undercover

Awomen aged 20-25ish? getting ready to go out, shots of her doing her hair and her make up and getting dressed up.
Gives us hints of her job, is like James Bond style agent for example putting on gloves and files, paperwork, and also maybe a gun.
Credits written in type writer style font, gives impression of as mission, James Bond style film spy, but with a twist because the agent is a women.
The target audience of this film would attract men who are into spy type of films and action, but also females because of the lead role in the film.
The womens mission is to get romantically involved with a wealthy, powerful Russian business man that is involved with the Government and also suspect that he is involved in a gang of drug related crimes.

  • We are going to try and have:
  • Multiple Pass ports
  • File work and pictures of a man
  • Credit cards
  • Ring that opens and has a secret compartment
  • and also sunglasses to keep her identity secret from the audience

In the opening scene of the film her idenetity will be kept secret from the audience only show parts of her face and body like, her eye while she is putting on mascara, her lips while she is putting on lipstick, her legs while she is walking to the car etc.

Watching:Beginnings

  • Danny Boyle- "announce as much ambitions possible.."
  • John Schlesinger-"A good sharp shock"
  • J.JBeuneix-"Accept to wait..."
  • David Finchers 'Se7en'-"A good beginning makes the audience not know enough yet, but at the same time not know too little." "hits you over head be comes the 1st scene in movie"
  • Welles Citizen Krane-"teaching the audience how to watch film."

Feedback on preliminary exercise

Above is mine, James and Mary's Preliminary exercise.

On this task we had to film and edit a 30 secons long contiuity task in which a character has to open a door, enters and crosses a room, sits opposite another character with whom/she/he exchanges at least four lines of dialogue.

When doing this exercise we had to use the 180 degree rule and use match on actions and other editing techniques.

- NEED TO GET FEEDBACK!

All shots were steady and in focus.
There was one shot with half of a face cut off- Rule of thirds could have been followed better.
Camera position possible a bit high in places.
There were no significant amounts of shot-reverse-shot.
The background was slightly cramped.
The match on action was good and the sequence flowed well.
The eyeline matched in every shot.

Assessment notes

James and Christina, Mary

Use of match on action
The sound isn’t synced up with the knocking on the door
Good use of over the shoulder shot
Varied use of different shots
The camera crosses the line of action as the subject comes to the wrong side of the frame when entering the room
The two person shot needs to be framed a little tighter so the subjects aren’t falling off the screen
There is too much of a jump to the close up shot at the end
You have used titling
